Lead Contaminated Water Lines

Lead Contaminated Water Lines Update concerning Michigan Lead Contaminated Water Service Line Replacement : The Legislature and Governor plant to allow "...replacement in 20 years..." of these lines. Note   - "Exposure to high levels of lead may cause anemia, weakness, and kidney and brain damage. Very high lead exposure can cause death. Lead can cross the placental barrier, which means pregnant women who are exposed to lead also expose their unborn child. Definition of a Wetland "Wetlands are areas where water covers the soil, or is present either at or near the surface of the soil all year or for varying periods of time during the year, including during the growing season. Water saturation (hydrology) largely determines how the soil develops and the types of plant and animal communities living in and on the soil. Wetlands may support both aquatic and terrestrial species. The prolonged presence of water creates conditions that favor the growth of specially adapted plants (hydrophytes) and promote the development of characteristic wetland (hydric) soils." Wetland Destruction in Michigan : "In total over 5,600,000 acres of wetlands have been damaged or destroyed in Michigan. Our realization of wetland values is relatively new. Thank you so much to the Wayne Public Library, Ms. Judy Wolack, Director, for providing us this opportunity to present this information here. The Wayne Public Library was also kind enough to provide us display space for the month leading up to this evening and I am happy to say that much of the materials that were on display have already been distributed to the local community. The Wayne Public Library – ‘What do you want to do today?’ I would also like to thank FAN, Families Against Narcotics.  “An integral part of FAN's mission is to remove the stigma associated with addiction through education and to inform the community of the growing problem of substance dependency or addiction among all ages, and the increasing use of heroin by our young people. Over the past few years, we have presented our Real People Sharing Real Stories to thousands of students in over three dozen school districts, spoke at over 50 conferences, and traveled to more than 30 communities, fro...
