Continuing Availability of Opioids
From May 202 to April 21 there were an estimated 100,306 drug overdoses that resulted in death in the United States. These are overdoses from illegal drugs or illegally trafficked prescription drugs.
If we start counting from 1999 to the present day the United States has lost over 1 million Americans to drug overdose.
These premature deaths but such vicious methods impact the family and friends of those who succumb very hard. They have a destabilizing effect on the community in which they occur. They cause a lack of confidence in their local governments and services such as medical and police. not because they directly caused these deaths but because it is naturally believed by custom that these organizations are supposed to be trusted with protecting people.
These deaths, though possibly expected after long periods of crisis are nonetheless unexpected and cause a great deal of turmoil. Some of which can last a lifetime.
Doctors are still prescribing opioids at high rates. The companies that made and distributed pills by the billions have been sued in court but even the worst among them can take the cost of most fines, fees and judgments off of their taxes as a cost of doing business.
Most drug dealers have no idea what they are selling. For the few that do the culpability in these deaths is far greater but ignorance is no excuse for take advantage of smuggling that ultimately leads to incidents of rape, assault, murder and suicide, don’t you agree?
