Fast and Furious
The White House would have known about 'Fast and Furious' even if only being aware of the method of operation because the 'Fast and Furious' case is not an isolated incident.
It is indicative of a secretive technique that the Department of Justice uses. They will sell or buy guns or drugs and transport them or allow them to be transported inside a state, between states or even across the border (as in this case). This technique has grown out of control and is used to advantage by Federal District Attorneys to do what they call 'building a case'. It may take months or years to 'build' a case.
What happens during that time is that protection can be given to individuals or groups who normally would be arrested. At times it seems that the FBI and ATF will actually warn off local and state law enforcement from enforcing the law and arresting individuals because they are being used in 'developing a case'. The harm that the Department of Justice is causing in the United States and to the 'War on Drugs' (which this President abandoned) is real and extensive.
'Fast and Furious' is a case where a Federal Agent was killed by a gun put into circulation by another Federal Agent. Luckily we are hearing about it. You will never (if they can help it) hear about how many children are sold drugs originally supplied by FBI or DEA contacts or how many innocent people are harmed or killed by guns put into circulation by the FBI or ATF. You will never know the names of the cowardly and dangerous people given protection by the Department of Justice nor the names of the innocent people put under surveillance and threat of arrest in order to get them to 'cooperate'.
The Department of Justice calls it law enforcement but as you can imagine and see from 'Fast and Furious' it has turned into something quite different. A good deal of the drugs and laundered money and gun traffic is known about and even encouraged by a system that rewards secrecy and violence.
Why do they do it? If you arrest a guy with 1 kilo of cocaine and 50,000 dollars that is not as lucrative as catching him with 1,000 kilos of cocaine and 50 million dollars. You see - when these arrests are made the money and personal property of those arreste is taken into possession by the Department of Justice. Apparently bonuses and rewards and supplements to their budgets are taken from the cash and seized property. Even if they retrieve stolen items or other goods the citizens or companies that want that money or material back must sue for it in a separate court. Court costs are deducted from any money returned.
Even without 'Fast and Furious' - can you see what is wrong?
